Our Story

Kintsugi - “Joined in Gold” - is the Japanese art of repairing pottery by joining them with gold. In this way, a beautiful object is not simply thrown away, but given a new life, with the very repairs themselves adding to the beauty of the object and becoming a part of its story.

We want our products to have an understated elegance, true to wabi-sabi aesthetics, and to convey the old message of kintsugi: imperfections and reuse are not unhappy accidents, but an integral part of the piece. Every item we sell is unique and most are handmade to order, such that each of our customers can posses an individual object with its own history.

We are committed to ethical standards. By offering made-to-order products and purchasing pre-loved materials and objects which we can up-cycle to create new products, we minimize waste and give a new life to these goods. The fabrics we use are ethically-sourced, mostly spun and woven in Japan, or deadstock. This allows us to create unique pieces using fabrics that would otherwise end up in landfill. Many of our leather goods are made from vintage and off-cut leather which would otherwise go to waste.
